Why are Invicta watches so cheap?
If you are looking for an affordable watch, then you bound to come across the brand Invicta at some point. Invicta watches have been around for over 150 years and these days they have taken over the internet.
However, seeing their prices you might wonder why Invicta watches so cheap and whether they use low-quality materials on their watches. Well, there are several reasons for such a low price, but, before that, let’s take a look at the brief history of Invicta watches.
Who are Invicta Watches?
Invicta means “invincible” in Latin and was created sometime in 1837 by Raphael Picard who wanted to create high-quality and affordable watches for people.
Within a short period, the company became famous and build a strong reputation in the industry for more than a century. During the years, vintage Invicta watches are acknowledged for their top build quality and stunning designs.
Unfortunately, the 1970s Quartz Attack forced vintage Invicta watches from the picture. It seemed like the company’s long and rich history finally ended.
Thankfully, in 1991, the initial company’s descendants reconstituted the organisation. Today, the team of Invicta watches is focused on building high-quality watches for people that are both affordable and beautiful in design, something the original Invicta company was known for.
Why are Invicta Watches So Cheap?
There are several reasons why their watches are so affordable. However, only two reasons among them influenced the cost the most.
Invicta Does Not Produce Their Movements
Producing top quality movements is an expensive task for any watch manufacturer and if you want to produce automatic movements, then it will become even more costly.
That’s why Invicta chose not to produce their watch movements by themselves and instead, outsource this particular task to several reputed companies such as Seagull, Ronda, Seiko, ETA, ISA, Miyota, etc who provides them their movements.
These companies are famous for their top build quality although there is nothing exceptional about the course of these movements.
Many Invicta watches also use the Japanese quartz movement, which has good build quality, but also very cheap helping the company to maintain its low price.
Use of Common Materials
Invicta uses good quality but very common materials such as stainless steel to produce their watches. This is particularly true for both the bracelet and the watch case.
If you are looking for a gold-toned watch, then you will be happy to know that Invicta sometimes ion-plating on their watches which is known to be more durable than gold paint.
When looking at the materials of the watch, you might observe that the glass covering the dial is created from sapphire-coated mineral glass. Making the glass scratch-free and shatter-resistant. All thee materials are of good quality but not very expensive or luxurious keeping the cost low.
Lastly, the company outsources the production of most parts of its watch to China, which keeps the manufacturing and assembling costs low allowing the company can sell its watches at low prices.
However, the watches the priced upwards $200 are usually made in Switzerland. This means 60% of their manufacturing cost is spent within Switzerland making the production of the watches more expensive and hence, rise in their selling price.
To conclude, Invicta watches are excellent watches for daily usage without being worried about damaging them beyond repair. If you are looking for something trendy yet affordable, then also Invicta is a good choice as they usually sell glittery watches.
